Cupressus macrocarpa

The Lemon Cypress has a wonderful color and fun shape. Slightly different from the Wilma Goldcrest, when the leaves are gently crushed it smells like lemons!

It's a great conifer for indoors - move it inside in the fall, outside in the springtime. It's perfect for temperate and warmer climates too. Keep the soil wrung-sponge damp but will tolerate the occassional dryness - but don't leave the soil dry for long. Decorate it for the winter holidays. Prune in late winter for topiary.

Plants are big and bushy this season. All have multiple leaders and average 12" tall. (08-29-17)

  • Indoor: likes bright indirect light and keep the soil evenly moist
  • Outdoor: They are hardened off to Zone 7 (0F) and good through Zone 11 (above 40F)
  • Protect from freezing
  • Part sun or part shade
  • In colder climates treat as an annual
  • Heat Zones 12 - 7
  • Part sun to part shade
  • Growth rate dependent on placement, 3" to 6" per year
  • Prune in late winter so the new growth hides the cut marks
  • Comes in a 4" pot
