Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Little John'
Oh he sounds so darling! A new addition to our inventory and to the plant world. Little John "wears combination of foliage types that are either tight sprays of congested, twisting fans, or longer, more open shoots that reach up and out." (From the grower.) I imagine the new growth in the springtime may the "more open shoots" but do take a look at the detail photos to see his wonderful structure and texture.
Shelter this gem from the hot afternoon sun in the summertime. It's so slow-growing compact when young, it may burn. Cool, eastern sun is perfect, or shade the container with a larger container. Check inside the shrub for any dead branches (conifer dieback) and clear them out when you see it.
