Primo Dwarf Arborvitae - Thuja occidentalis 'Primo'
The new Primo Arborvitae is new to our inventory this season. The plant is absolutely darling but the information on it is limited thus far. I'm treating as a slower version of the Zmatlik. It's daintier in shape, it grows into a slimmer cone shape. The bark already looks aged (see photo) and that great reddy-brown color contrasts nicely with the rich, emerald green color.
The Primo is a great anchor tree for the miniature garden bed. With its ruggedness and finely textured dark green foliage, it really looks like a big forest tree - but in miniature. I imagine is it just as pleasurable to grow as the Zmatlik. Ideal for containers (at least 10" deep) or right in the garden bed.
